U.S. President Donald Trump posted a photo of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in custody aboard the USS Iwo Jima. The image shows Maduro handcuffed, blindfolded, holding a small water bottle, and dressed in a gray tracksuit.

Trump announced that the U.S. Armed Forces had carried out an “exceptional” military operation in Venezuela, resulting in the capture of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. He stated that both would face justice in the United States.

“In accordance with my directive, the Armed Forces today conducted an exceptional military operation in Venezuela,” Trump said Saturday evening. “The mission aimed to bring Maduro to justice and was executed flawlessly—similar to the operations that eliminated Soleimani and Baghdadi and targeted Iranian nuclear sites.”

He added that the arrest took place “in the dead of night” in Caracas, with both Maduro and his wife apprehended with “precision and efficiency.
