On Sunday, January 4, 2026, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Dr. Faiq Zaidan, delivered a speech marking the sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of the Victory Leaders. He stated:
“Today, we stand in a moment of loyalty and responsibility, recalling great sacrifices that were not mere passing events but an eternal epic that secured Iraq’s safety and preserved its dignity, extending its blessings to every inch of its land.”
He added:
“The Victory Leaders, along with the martyrs of Iraq, symbolized unity of stance and strength of will when rifles and hearts united in defense of the homeland, humanity, and sanctities. From the south to the north, and from east to west, the martyrs gave their lives so that Iraq would remain proud and unbowed before terrorism. They were the embodiment of pure sacrifice and a lesson to generations that nations are safeguarded with blood and built with sincerity.”
Judge Zaidan continued:
> “On this immortal anniversary, we renew our pledge to the blood of the martyrs to remain loyal to their sacrifices, committed to the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, and dedicated to building a future worthy of the greatness of what they gave their lives for. We also salute the families of the martyrs—the makers of patience and dignity—and tell them: your sons live on in the conscience of Iraq, their memory will never fade, and their message endures.”
He pointed out:
> “After achieving military and security victory, our national and moral duty compels us all to move into the phase of state-building—a state that can only be established through respect for the law, unity of decision-making, and the exclusive possession of arms by the state. There is no longer a need for weapons outside the framework of legitimate institutions. The battle is over, and the new challenges require a different kind of weapon: law, justice, and development.”
He emphasized:
> “Restricting arms to the state does not mean abandoning sacrifices; rather, it affirms that those who bore arms in times of war are the first to uphold the law in times of peace. Loyalty to the martyrs lies in building the state they dreamed of and sacrificed for. The true fighter is one who masters bearing arms when duty calls and masters bearing responsibility when it is time to build the nation.”
He concluded by saying:
> “Mercy and eternal glory to the Victory Leaders and all the martyrs of Iraq, and everlasting triumph to a homeland destined to live through the sacrifices of its sons.”
