Today, January 6, Iraq and its army celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the valiant Iraqi Army.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister extended his congratulations in a post on Platform X, stating:
"On the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Army, we salute our sons in the armed forces and stand in reverence and appreciation for the sacrifices of the martyrs and heroic wounded who defended Iraq, its sovereignty, and its land."
He affirmed the government's commitment over the past three years to strengthening the capabilities of the armed forces with advanced and modern weapons and equipment.
"We have honored the pledge we made to ourselves to fully restore Iraq’s sovereignty and to end the mission of the international coalition. Thanks to the stability Iraq now enjoys, we have confidently moved forward to conclude the work of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI)."
He also added that "we will continue working to strengthen the power of the state by maintaining security and ensuring that weapons remain solely in the hands of the state, in line with the government program and in harmony with the call of the Supreme Religious Authority."
