Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that the United States had carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and captured its leader, Republican Senator Mike Lee revealed on Saturday that Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed him that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro had been apprehended by U.S. forces in preparation for prosecution on criminal charges in the United States.

Lee wrote on the platform X (formerly Twitter) after a call with Washington’s top diplomat: “Rubio expects no further action will be taken in Venezuela now that Maduro is in U.S. custody.”
