Iraq Expresses Readiness to Support Efforts to End the Conflict in Yemen.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed on Tuesday his country's "readiness" to support efforts to end the conflict in Yemen.

During a meeting with his Yemeni counterpart Aidarous Al-Zubaidi on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, they discussed efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis.

The Iraqi minister expressed his country's "readiness" to provide support within the framework of international efforts to end the conflict in Yemen and achieve development and stability for the Yemeni people, according to a statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Houthis took control of large areas in northern Yemen in 2014, most notably the capital, Sanaa. The following year, Riyadh intervened militarily in the conflict, leading a military coalition to support the government against the Houthis.

The conflict has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Yemenis and caused a humanitarian crisis described by the United Nations as the worst in the world.
