Supreme Judicial Council Stresses Blocking Baath-Affiliated Figures from Entering Parliament.

The Supreme Judicial Council hosted a meeting attended by Chief Judge Faiq Zidan; Vice Presidents of the Federal Court of Cassation, Judge Kazem Abbas (head of the judicial body handling appeals against the Accountability and Justice Commission's decisions) and Judge Hassan Fouad (head of the judicial body for appeals against decisions of the Electoral Commission); as well as Dr. Bassem Al-Badri, President of the National High Commission for Accountability and Justice, along with several members of the commission.

The meeting focused on reviewing procedures of the Accountability and Justice Commission related to the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Participants agreed to strictly enforce the Accountability and Justice Law and to prevent individuals affiliated with the now-defunct Ba'ath Party from entering parliament. They emphasized transparency in the commission’s processes and stated that this issue must not be exploited for purposes outside those stipulated by law.
