Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, becoming the third European minister to visit Syria following the fall of the previous regime.
In his statements, Tajani said, "I will head to Damascus on Friday for a mission," explaining that he will announce a "first package of development cooperation aid" for Syria, which has emerged from a conflict that lasted more than 13 years.
He added, "Italy stands alongside the Syrian people to promote political stability and ensure the protection of human rights.
Tajani concluded his remarks by saying, "It is essential to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and prevent its exploitation by terrorist organizations and hostile entities.
