Nothing surpasses the light in Baghdad during the end-of-year days and the welcoming of the new year. Despite the constant electricity shortages in the capital and Iraq in general, the streets of Baghdad challenge this shortage by illuminating with Christmas trees and lights that fill the main squares and streets to welcome the new year.

As is the tradition every year, Tahrir Square in the city center and other streets and squares in the Rusafa and Karkh sides of the capital have been decorated with illuminated trees this year, carrying with them the hopes for the coming year and memories of the year that is about to end.

The squares and streets have been decorated, and with just one day left to celebrate the new year, everyone carries memories from the past year, whether happy or sad.
