U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he rated his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska as “10 out of 10” on a scale from one to ten.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump explained that he negotiated with Putin on issues including NATO, security measures, and territorial matters, adding, “I think we’re very close to reaching an agreement.”
He noted that no final agreement has been reached yet, confirming that the negotiations covered “many points,” with “one or two important points” still unresolved.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, Trump advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to “strike a deal to end the war,” saying, “Ukraine should agree, and maybe it won’t, but my advice to Zelensky is to make a deal.”
He added, “Yes, you need to reach an agreement. Russia is a very powerful force… and they have great soldiers.”
Trump emphasized that he spoke “very candidly” with Putin during the meeting, noting that they had a private conversation after the official statements, and praised the speech delivered by the Russian president.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Trump for the “friendly tone” of their talks on Friday, saying that Russia and the United States should “turn the page and return to cooperation.”
Putin praised Trump, describing him as someone “who has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve, genuinely cares about his country’s prosperity, and at the same time understands that Russia has its own national interests.”
