Al-Sudani Denies Any Threat to Iraq and Points to Responsible Dialogue.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani denied that Iraq faces any threats or impositions on any issue, emphasizing that there is responsible dialogue based on mutual respect and shared interests.

In an interview with state television, Al-Sudani expressed concern about the developments in Syria due to the presence of armed groups and ISIS terrorists, noting that joint operations with Jordan and the international coalition have begun.

Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's commitment to the unity of Syrian territories and its readiness to support an inclusive political process in Syria without interfering in its internal affairs.

He mentioned that Iraq presented a paper at the Aqaba meeting outlining the fundamental principles for Syria's stability.

Al-Sudani stressed that the new administration in Syria must provide guarantees to respect the diversity of its components and not exclude anyone.

He highlighted that after the events of October 7, 2023, Iraq maintained its supreme interests and avoided being dragged into conflicts while upholding its principled stance on the Palestinian issue.

Regarding the threats posed by ISIS, Al-Sudani stated that Iraq is a core member of the international coalition to combat ISIS and is committed to standing against any terrorist threat to its borders.

He noted that border security is at its best, with fortifications and control over all border points for the first time.

Al-Sudani emphasized that the situation in Iraq in 2024 is different from 2014, and the briefing by the UN Secretary-General's representative to the Security Council confirmed that there is unprecedented political stability in Iraq.
