His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Baghdad Palace, His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Ignatius Joseph III Yonan, Patriarch of the Syriac Catholics of Antioch in the world, along with several bishops and priests, in the presence of Mr. Rami Joseph Agajan, Head of the Office of Christian, Yazidi, and Mandaean Endowments.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency affirmed Iraq's supportive stance towards its brothers in Lebanon and Palestine, assisting them in overcoming the difficult circumstances in facing aggression. He called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples. His Excellency emphasized the necessity of joint efforts to prevent escalation and the widening of the war, given its implications for consolidating international peace and security.

His Excellency the President of the Republic emphasized the necessity of maintaining security and stability, fostering peaceful coexistence among all components, and working to strengthen national unity among Iraqis. His Excellency recalled the terrorist attack on Our Lady of Salvation Church, offering his condolences to the victims' families on the anniversary of this attack.

For his part, His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Ignatius Joseph III Yonan expressed his support for the proposals of His Excellency the President of the Republic, praising his continuous support for establishing peaceful coexistence among all Iraqis and strengthening unity in the face of challenges. He also appreciated Iraq's positions supporting the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.
