The Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced today, Tuesday, the imminent closure of the camps file in Erbil, while indicating that there is flexibility in returning the displaced to their homes.
The Director General of the Branch Affairs Department in the ministry, Ali Abbas Jahangir, said: "The families currently residing in the camps number around 18,000 families distributed across 22 camps, 6 in Erbil and 16 in Duhok," explaining that "the repatriation process is ongoing and very soon some camps, especially in Erbil, will be closed as they have been emptied of their residents in the previous phase."
He pointed out that "the ministry is continuing with this file and there is flexibility in their return according to the families' desire to stay within the displacement area but outside the camp or a third area, and the return and privileges approved by the Council of Ministers based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Migration and Displacement," explaining that "the financial amounts are disbursed upon their arrival in their areas and the processing of the return transaction."
