The Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, met today, Thursday, in the capital Beirut, with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri, as part of an official visit in solidarity with the Lebanese and Palestinian brothers.
This visit responds to the directives of the higher religious authority (may its shadow last) regarding the necessity of supporting and alleviating their suffering and is part of Iraq's diplomatic efforts to stop the Zionist aggression against the peoples of the region.
Al-Mandalawi confirmed that Iraq is making significant parliamentary diplomatic efforts in international and regional forums, most recently through its participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union conference and the emergency meeting of the Arab Parliament. These efforts aim to urge the countries of the world to actively engage in pressuring to stop the genocidal crimes being perpetrated by the Zionist terrorist entity against civilians in Lebanon and Palestine. He emphasized that the brutal actions of the occupying leaders and forces pose a serious threat to the international system and humanitarian laws, representing a genuine challenge to global security and peace, and warned that their expansion could lead to a devastating economic earthquake threatening the peoples of the region and the world.
Al-Mandalawi discussed with Berri the initiatives and proposals put forward to stop the Zionist aggression and prevent the escalation of conflict in the region. He pointed out that Iraq stands alongside its brothers and will work through all possible means to succeed in peace efforts and restore stability in Lebanon and Palestine. He also called on Islamic and Arab parliaments to support the diplomatic efforts of the Iraqi Parliament to curb the killing and destruction caused by the Zionists and to unify visions and positions within an Islamic Arab project that protects the sovereignty of Lebanon and Palestine and fulfills the just demands of both peoples. Additionally, he urged the provision of genuine support and assistance to both brotherly countries and to supply the necessary needs to alleviate humanitarian suffering in them.
