The presidencies held a meeting today, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Baghdad Palace, which included His Excellency President Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, and Chief Justice Mr. Faik Zidan.
The attendees discussed the file of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the efforts being made to expedite the resolution of this entitlement, emphasizing support for these efforts in a way that contributes to achieving the higher interest and enhancing the role of the House of Representatives in integration with the executive and judicial authorities.
The attendees also discussed the reasons for the delay in presenting some important draft laws prepared by the Presidency of the Republic and the necessity of including them in the council's agenda in its upcoming sessions, in addition to reviewing the judicial measures taken in the context of publication and media crimes and monitoring cases of excesses in light of the systematic campaign waged by some suspicious pages targeting the presidencies, ministries, and state institutions and pursuing their perpetrators according to the provisions of the law.
The meeting also addressed the government measures taken in the financial aspect in order to ensure the funding of ministries and provinces from the investment budget and the regional development budget, in addition to preparing the appropriate environment and logistical requirements for the Independent High Electoral Commission to begin its preparations for the parliamentary elections scheduled for next year.
The attendees emphasized the importance of conducting the population census as a developmental goal for the country, upon which economic and social policies, plans, and programs depend.
The attendees also discussed the overall situation in the regional arena, the developments of the Zionist aggression against Palestine and Lebanon, the efforts made to contain these aggressions, and the enhancement of the political stance towards protecting Iraq and its people from any potential escalation.
