The Iraqi Wrestling Federation announced on Friday that an Iraqi wrestler achieved an unprecedented achievement by securing the seventh place in the international ranking of the sport.

The Vice President of the Federation, Mahdi Hassan, said, "The achievement of our wrestler Sajad Ali Makassar in securing the seventh position globally is an unprecedented accomplishment, and it is a national and continental achievement for the Iraqi national team player.

He added, "Our goal for the next phase will be to focus on the future and support the Olympic champion project, discovering high-level wrestlers who will represent the national teams.

He explained that "the International Wrestling Federation granted the ranking to Makser in the 55 kg category of Greco-Roman wrestling for the year 2024, in light of the outstanding results he achieved in various championships, the latest of which was the Asian Championship.

It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi Greco-Roman wrestling team member, Sajjad Ali Makser, won the bronze medal in the Asian Championship held in Kyrgyzstan last April with the participation of the continent's wrestling champions.
