The special voting process for the parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region began this morning, Friday (October 18, 2024).
Polling stations are witnessing a high turnout as the voting process begins at 7 AM in 165 polling centers, set to conclude at 6 PM according to the schedule determined by the Election Commission.
He added that more than 89,000 military and security personnel are participating in these elections in the city of Erbil.
"768 voters in Anbar and Salah al-Din cast their votes in the special voting for the Kurdistan elections," which lasts for 11 hours.
The commission prepared 251,700 ballots for the special voting in the Kurdistan Parliament elections, while confirming that voting will only be through the biometric card.
The spokesperson for the Independent High Electoral Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalai, confirmed that the ballot boxes will close electronically at six in the evening.
For his part, the spokesperson for the Central Election Commission of the Kurdistan Parliament, Eser Yasin, confirmed that the devices have been working well since the start of the voting at 7 AM and are still functioning properly without interruption. He added that the commission has 50% of backup devices and can replace any device immediately in case of a malfunction.
He explained that there is no extension in the voting time because the machine operates electronically and is programmed to close at six in the evening.
