Major General Rasool: Iraq has the capability to monitor the airspace and track incoming and outgoing aircraft.

The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, confirmed today, Saturday, that all necessary measures have been taken to secure Iraqi airspace, noting that Iraq has the capability to monitor the skies and track incoming and outgoing aircraft.

The messenger said that "the Iraqi government, led by Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, has given great attention to developing air defense capabilities," noting that "a contract was signed with South Korea several months ago to acquire an advanced air defense system, and this will require time to complete the construction of this system."

The messenger added that "Iraq has the capability to monitor the skies and track the aircraft that enter and exit, as the Iraqi forces have taken all necessary measures to protect Iraqi airspace," noting that "Iraqi airspace is not fully secured, but all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure its safety."

He mentioned that "the advanced K-16 and K-50 Korean aircraft, along with transport and reconnaissance planes, constitute an Iraqi air force that contributes to the protection of Iraq and the defense of its sovereignty."

Regarding border protection, Major General Rasool confirmed that "all Iraqi borders are well secured, especially those connecting us with Syria, where these borders have been heavily fortified with the presence of Iraqi border forces, in addition to thermal cameras and listening devices," noting that "the military leadership places great importance on securing the Iraqi borders."

The messenger added that "the sectors of the Iraqi army are positioned behind the borders, in addition to the deployment of five lines of border forces, which are conducting qualitative and preemptive operations in areas identified through intelligence, using ambushes and precise monitoring."
