Today, Saturday, Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received the Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Daniel Hohn, who is the first ambassador of his country following the reopening of the Swiss embassy in Baghdad.


The Prime Minister welcomed the reopening of the Swiss embassy after nearly 33 years of its closure, considering it an important step and a new phase in the relations between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of activating joint working committees to contribute to further fruitful bilateral cooperation.
The meeting emphasized the mutual desire to strengthen Iraqi-European relations, especially in light of the stable security situation in Iraq and the developmental renaissance that has encompassed all vital economic sectors, as well as the government's support for the work and investment environment and the establishment of constructive economic partnerships.
For his part, Ambassador Hoon confirmed that the reopening of his country's embassy in Baghdad will contribute to strengthening mutual relations and will assist Swiss companies in operating in Iraq and benefiting from the available investment opportunities.
The meeting addressed the ongoing Zionist aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, targeting unarmed civilians, the role of the European Union in stopping this massacre, and the necessary position of the international community to curb the expansion of the conflict in the region, as well as the risks and threats it poses to regional and international security.
