On Monday, the Supreme Judicial Council announced discussions regarding the phenomenon of begging and the delays in resolving cases with Minister of Interior Abdul Amir al-Shammari.
The Council stated in a release that "the head of the Baghdad Rusafa Court of Appeals, Judge Imad al-Jabiri, received Minister of Interior Abdul Amir al-Shammari and his accompanying delegation," noting that "the two sides discussed several joint files concerning the work of the judiciary and the ministry, emphasizing the need to overcome all obstacles hindering progress."
The statement added that "the meeting addressed several issues, including the prevalence of begging in the capital, Baghdad, as well as the necessity of establishing multiple health centers to treat drug addicts. The meeting also discussed the delays in sending criminal records of suspects and their impact on case resolutions."
In conclusion, the meeting emphasized "intensifying efforts to combat organized crime and the need to install surveillance cameras on all main and secondary roads."
