Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan called on the international community and the UN Security Council to take responsibility for stopping the escalation in the region on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

The foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan met in New York on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Iraq held a meeting to discuss the framework of cooperation in preparation for an upcoming trilateral summit at the leadership level in Cairo.

The statement noted that the ministers addressed the serious ongoing escalation in the region, emphasizing that stopping this escalation begins with halting Israeli aggression on Gaza. They condemned Israeli aggression against Lebanon and asserted that Israel is pushing the region toward a comprehensive war.

The ministers called on the international community and the Security Council to take relevant responsibilities to stop the war, stating that Israel bears full responsibility for this deterioration, which will have serious repercussions for the entire region.
