The spokesperson for the Pentagon, Sabrina Singh, confirmed that U.S. forces are conducting joint operations with Iraqi security forces against ISIS cells to eliminate what remains of the extremist organization. 

In a press statement, Singh said, "ISIS still poses a threat to Iraq and Syria, but it is different from what it was in 2014." 

She added, "We are continuously monitoring the situation, which is why we are conducting activities in partnership with Iraqi and Syrian security forces against ISIS cells and their leaders."
