The Turkish Statistical Institute announced today, Tuesday, that Iraqis have fallen to the fifth position among the top nationalities buying Turkish real estate in August, after being in the fourth position the previous month.
The Institute's report states that foreign residential property sales decreased by 26.2% in August compared to the same month last year, totaling 2,257 homes. In August, the share of foreign residential sales from the total home sales was 1.7%. The provinces with the highest number of home sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 838 homes, Antalya with 696 homes, and Mersin with 174 homes, respectively.
The report noted that "Russians were the top buyers of real estate in Turkey in August, purchasing 381 homes. Iranians were second with 171 homes, followed by Ukrainians in third place with 161 homes. Germans ranked fourth with 139 homes, and Iraqis were fifth with 136 homes. Kazakhstan was sixth with 98 homes, Azerbaijan seventh with 90 homes, and Kuwait eighth with 75 homes."
