On Sunday, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Elena Romanowski urged Iraqi Kurds to participate in the upcoming elections.

The ambassador said on the platform X: "On International Democracy Day, we recognize the transformative impact that democracy can have on societies, promoting peace and stability."

 She added: "We encourage all eligible residents of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to fully engage in shaping their country's democracy by voting in the  

 upcoming elections scheduled for October 20."
