A team of scientists has discovered that swarms of magnetic nanorobots can treat brain hemorrhages with unprecedented effectiveness and precision. These tiny robots, which are twenty times the size of a red blood cell, can be remotely controlled as a swarm using medical imaging and magnetic techniques

The innovation, developed by researchers from the University of Edinburgh and Shanghai’s People's Hospital, aims to provide precise treatment for cases of cerebral aneurysms, a serious condition that causes potentially fatal bleeding or strokes. The robots were tested in laboratories using models of aneurysms in rabbits, where they demonstrated the ability to deliver clotting drugs precisely to the affected areas, effectively stopping or preventing bleeding

The study, published in the journal Small, points to a promising future where small robots can be remotely controlled to perform complex tasks within the human body, such as targeted drug delivery and performing surgical repairs with fewer risks than traditional treatments

Researchers believe that this technology could reduce the need for implants in the treatment of aneurysms, thereby lowering the risk of body rejection of implants and decreasing reliance on anticoagulant medications. Additionally, nanorobots could serve as an alternative to lengthy and complex surgeries for treating brain strokes, opening the door to less invasive and more effective treatments
