On Sunday evening, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior announced that initial investigations into the shooting incident at the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby Bridge) revealed that the shooter was Jordanian citizen Maher Dheab Hussein Al-Jazi from the Hussiniyah area in the Ma'an Governorate. Al-Jazi, who was driving a truck loaded with commercial goods, was crossing the bridge into the West Bank when the incident occurred

The ministry confirmed that the incident was an individual act and that investigations are ongoing to determine all the details of the incident. In this context, coordination with the relevant authorities has been made to receive Al-Jazi's body for burial in Jordan. The ministry also stated that all Jordanian truck drivers who were investigated following the incident have been released, and more than 100 trucks returned to the kingdom on Sunday morning

The ministry also mentioned that the authorities are monitoring the closure of the bridge following the incident, which is the first of its kind since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. The attack resulted in the death of three Israeli security guards, and Israel has closed all land crossings with Jordan, leading to a backlog of dozens of convoys

At the same time, the West Bank is experiencing unprecedented tension, with ongoing Israeli raids and arrests. Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, at least 660 Palestinians have been killed, while 23 Israelis, including security personnel, have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians during the same period

It is worth noting that the Allenby Bridge, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, is used by Palestinian travelers to reach Jordan and then travel abroad
