Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani emphasized that his visit to Tunisia, following an official invitation, marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
He underscored the Iraqi government's genuine commitment and sincere desire to work jointly and enhance relations across various sectors.
This statement was made during a joint press conference held on Wednesday with his Tunisian counterpart following extensive talks between the two countries' delegations.

The Media Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency-INA that “Prime Minister Al-Sudani noted that the state visit comes just three months after the Iraqi-Tunisian Joint Committee convened in Baghdad, during which a series of important memoranda of understanding were signed across multiple sectors. These agreements serve as a roadmap, further enriched by the outcomes of this visit. The discussions led to agreements on issues related to oil, industry, trade, financial and banking relations, cultural, sports, scientific, and tourism activities.
“He praised the decisions taken to lift visa requirements to facilitate movement and communication in tourism and business sectors,” the statement added.

The statement further stated that,"Prime Minister Al-Sudani highlighted that the talks focused on mechanisms to implement the outcomes of the joint committee meetings and today's discussions, emphasizing a clear commitment from both sides to meticulous follow-up and continuous evaluation. He stated that Iraq offers an environment conducive to further investments and opportunities in various sectors, expressing the Iraqi private sector's interest in investing in Tunisia, which would support mutual investment integration. Enhancing trade exchange is seen as a step towards achieving the desired economic integration between the two countries.”

The Prime Minister also referred to the official positions of both Iraq and Tunisia regarding the ongoing Zionist aggression against Gaza and Palestinian territories, describing it as a principled and steadfast stance against the acts of genocide targeting the Palestinian people. He stressed that the international community has failed to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities. Today's meeting with Tunisian leaders is part of a series of discussions with brotherly and friendly governments to shape a collective stance to halt this devastating war, which is expanding to other parts of the Middle East and poses a risk of escalating into a global conflict due to the ongoing provocations by the Zionist government and the absence of deterrent measures from international organizations and institutions.
