Iranian media reported that the body of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, will be laid to rest in the city of Mashhad after the completion of the official funeral and memorial ceremonies.

The reports stated that the high committee organizing the funeral is currently finalizing plans for major public and official farewell ceremonies in the capital, Tehran. The precise schedule and detailed programs will be announced once they are approved by the relevant authorities.

Khamenei’s biography points to his deep connection with the city of Mashhad, where he was born in 1939. The shrine of Imam Reza also contains the body of his father, Ayatollah Jawad Khamenei, who was buried in the “Tawhid Khaneh” chamber.

Regional and international audiences are awaiting the official announcement of the ceremony dates, amid expectations of broad participation from Arab and international delegations in both Tehran and Mashhad, according to the same sources.
