An unannounced visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Saudi Arabia is underway, during which the Kingdom and Ukraine are preparing to sign a cooperation agreement in the field of air security, according to a senior official who spoke to Agence France-Presse.

The agreement is expected to be signed in the city of Jeddah and will cover various security aspects, with a particular focus on protecting airspace and strengthening air-defense capabilities.

This development comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent escalation in the Middle East, where Iran launched missiles and drones toward Gulf states in response to U.S.–Israeli strikes targeting Iranian assets.

Observers note that the anticipated agreement reflects a broader Saudi effort to expand its security partnerships, while also enhancing Ukraine’s role in international security matters—especially given its accumulated experience in air defense and drone warfare since the outbreak of the conflict with Russia.
