In cooperation with Kuwaiti and Iraqi security forces dismantle an international drug‑smuggling network.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that it had thwarted an international criminal network involved in drug trafficking, in cooperation with Kuwait, and seized more than 300,000 Captagon pills in a high‑level security operation.

In a statement, the ministry said that “the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, in coordination with the General Directorate for Drug Control in the State of Kuwait, carried out a specialized intelligence‑security operation that resulted in foiling a plot by an international criminal network active in trafficking narcotic substances.”

According to the statement, the operation led to the seizure of 314,000 Captagon pills that were prepared for smuggling as part of the activities of this cross‑border network. The success of the operation was attributed to precise intelligence sharing and high‑level field coordination between the two sides.

The ministry emphasized that this operation reflects the continued preemptive strikes carried out by the relevant agencies in confronting the scourge of drugs and demonstrates the effectiveness of regional security cooperation in pursuing drug traffickers and cutting off their sources of funding.
