FC Barcelona has announced the resignation of Joan Laporta from the club’s presidency in preparation for running in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 15, 2026. According to club regulations, he must step down to be eligible to run again. The new board will be elected in March but will not assume its duties until June. Laporta is considered a prominent candidate, while Rafa Yuste will temporarily lead the club during the transitional period.
The presidential elections for FC Barcelona are set for March 15, with the newly elected president expected to take charge of the Catalan team in July.
Barcelona confirmed that it had received the resignation request from Laporta and nine members of his board during the regular board meeting, during which the official call for the upcoming elections was also announced.
