The Iranian newspaper Ettelaat reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has settled on the option of military confrontation with Iran, although he seeks to contain the war and prevent it from expanding across the entire region.
According to the newspaper, the large U.S. military buildup of forces and equipment near Iran places these forces within range of Iranian missiles and drones, especially since they do not enjoy the same level of defensive protection that Israel had during previous confrontations.
The report added that any potential attack may begin with a combined operation involving security measures and military strikes, likely followed by the imposition of a naval blockade—which would make Iran’s naval forces among the primary targets in any potential escalation.
The Iranian report warned that if Washington fails to contain Iran’s response as planned, the situation could lead to a large‑scale confrontation that may quickly escalate into a full regional war.
Ettelaat concluded by saying that the U.S. escalation against Iran and the expansion of its military presence in the region are part of a broader strategy aimed at economically encircling China, stretching from the Caribbean to the Gulf.
