Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday that his country is prepared for any efforts toward peace with the United States, while the Saudi prince stressed that any aggression or threat against the Islamic Republic is unacceptable.
During a phone call with bin Salman, Pezeshkian spoke about the escalation of hostility by the United States and Israel against the Iranian people since the beginning of his term, including economic pressure, the imposition of war, and “direct intervention in inciting and supporting rioters and agitators during recent events in the country, which resulted in the deaths of many citizens and security forces, as well as severe damage to public property, relief equipment, markets, and mosques.”
He added, “They thought these measures would turn Iran into Syria or Libya, ignoring their ignorance of the true nature of the Iranian people.” He emphasized that the broad and conscious presence of the Iranian people on the scene had thwarted their objectives and conspiracies.
The president also expressed appreciation for the support and solidarity offered by Islamic countries to the Iranian people during the recent events, particularly from Saudi Arabia.
Pezeshkian considered that “the threats and psychological operations carried out by the Americans aim to destabilize the region. I believe the unity and cohesion of Islamic countries guarantee lasting security, stability, and peace in the region. Therefore, the role of our dear brothers in Islamic countries is of great importance in this regard.”
Commenting on Western claims about the need for Iran to return to the negotiating table to reduce tensions, Pezeshkian said, “We were negotiating with the Americans who attacked us militarily in front of the whole world. We reached an agreement coordinated with European countries, but it was the Americans who obstructed this agreement and failed to cooperate with us. From their perspective, negotiation and coordination mean we speak, and you execute. That is not dialogue.”
At the same time, the president affirmed that Iran has always been and remains ready to welcome any process that leads to peace, calm, and the prevention of conflict and war—within the framework of international law, while fully preserving the rights and dignity of the nation and the country. He explained that Tehran’s desire is to achieve rights and justice so that all people in the world can live together in peace and tranquility.
For his part, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stressed that the Kingdom considers any aggression, threat, or attempt to create tension against the Islamic Republic of Iran unacceptable.
He announced Saudi Arabia’s readiness for any cooperation with Iran and other countries in the region to establish lasting peace and security.
