Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that the American document on security guarantees for his country is fully prepared, and Kyiv is waiting for the date and place of its signing. The document will then be sent to the U.S. Congress and the Ukrainian parliament for ratification.
Talks between Ukrainian, Russian, and American delegations in Abu Dhabi concluded after “constructive” discussions and will continue in the next round on Sunday. These are considered the first publicly announced direct negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv within the U.S. plan to end the war.
Zelensky stated during a press conference in Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital:
"For us, security guarantees are first and foremost guarantees from the United States. The document is 100 percent ready, and we are waiting for our partners to confirm the date and place of signing."
He added:
"The document will then be sent to the U.S. Congress and the Ukrainian parliament for ratification."
According to Zelensky, the talks in Abu Dhabi on Saturday were constructive, while a U.S. official confirmed that the next round will be held next Sunday.
These negotiations mark the first direct, publicly announced talks between Moscow and Kyiv regarding the American plan to end the war, which began with the Russian invasion in February 2022 and has led to the deaths of tens of thousands.
