After His Greenland Remarks China Responds to Trump.

China has responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s statements about the need for the United States to take control of Greenland, warning against using other countries as a pretext to serve American interests. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized the importance of respecting all nations' rights in the Arctic region. Trump had reiterated his desire to purchase Greenland, citing concerns over potential Russian or Chinese control.

China urged the U.S. to refrain from using other nations as a justification for advancing its own agenda, following Trump’s claim that America needs to control Greenland to prevent future occupation by Russia or China.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated, according to Reuters, that “the Arctic is a region of common interest for the entire international community.” She added that China’s activities in the Arctic aim to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and called for respect for all countries’ rights and freedoms to engage in legitimate activities there.

These remarks came after Trump once again affirmed on Monday that the U.S. wants to acquire Greenland, a territory belonging to Denmark. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, he said, “If we don’t take over Greenland, Russia or China will… and I won’t let that happen.” He also encouraged the Arctic island to strike a deal with him.

Meanwhile, diplomatic sources reported that Trump administration officials are scheduled to meet with Danish officials next Wednesday to discuss the Greenland issue, according to CBS News.

Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Congress that President Trump is interested in purchasing the Danish territory.
