The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Tuesday that Boeing has been awarded an $8.6 billion contract for Israel’s F-15 fighter jet program. The announcement came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida.

According to the Pentagon, the contract includes the design, integration, outfitting, testing, production, and delivery of 25 new F-15IA fighter jets for the Israeli Air Force, with an option to purchase an additional 25 aircraft.

The deal falls under the framework of U.S. foreign military sales to Israel. The United States has long been Israel’s largest arms supplier and one of its closest allies in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, pro-Palestinian and anti-war protesters have taken to the streets across the U.S., calling for an end to Washington’s military support for Israel in light of its devastating offensive on Gaza. However, these demands have not been addressed by either the Trump administration or that of former President Joe Biden.

The Pentagon added that the contract work will be carried out in St. Louis and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2035.
