First Deputy Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament: We Will Work to Pass the Stalled Laws.

Iraq’s newly elected First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Fayhan, affirmed that the Council of Representatives will prioritize passing long-stalled legislation during the current parliamentary term.

In his first press conference following his election, Fayhan stated, “We congratulate the Iraqi people on completing the first phase of the electoral process that took place last month. Today, the first session was held, and the Speaker and his deputies were elected.”

He added, “This achievement is the result of the high voter turnout. This parliamentary term brings hope and optimism to Iraqis. We thank the members of parliament for adhering to constitutional timelines and successfully holding the first session—an accomplishment credited to the Council.”

Fayhan pledged, “We promise the Iraqi people to carry out a purposeful oversight role and to support the government’s program in a way that ensures the realization of all national interests, including the preservation of national sovereignty and political stability.”

In response to a question from a Shafaq News reporter, Fayhan emphasized, “The Iraqi people expect a great deal from the Council of Representatives, and during this term, we will work to pass the stalled laws.”
