Including Arab States: Four Countries Reject Recognition of Israel in Somaliland.

Egypt, Somalia, Djibouti, and Turkey rejected Israel’s recognition of the “Somaliland” region as a sovereign state.

The foreign ministers of these countries stated that the move constitutes a violation of Somalia’s unity and sovereignty and poses a threat to stability in the Horn of Africa.

According to their joint statement, the ministers emphasized their full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia and rejected any unilateral actions that would undermine Somali sovereignty or destabilize the region. They affirmed their backing of Somalia’s legitimate state institutions and rejected any attempts to impose parallel entities that contradict the unity of the state.

They further stressed that recognizing the independence of parts of sovereign states sets a dangerous precedent, threatens international peace and security, and violates established principles of international law and the UN Charter. They underscored that respect for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states is a fundamental pillar of international order.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced on Friday Israel’s official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.

Somaliland is a region that broke away from Somalia in the early 1990s and declared independence, though it remains largely unrecognized by the international community.
