In a televised interview, Iran’s ambassador to Baghdad, Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq, stated that his country has financial dues in Iraqi banks that it has been unable to withdraw. He noted that the government of Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani enabled Iran to access a larger portion of its previously inaccessible funds.
He added that Washington is preventing Iraqi traders dealing with Iran from obtaining U.S. dollars, emphasizing that Iraq has played a significant role in revitalizing the Iranian economy amid sanctions.
