The Christmas season began at the Vatican with the lighting of the Christmas tree in St. Peter’s Square. The tree, an 80-foot-tall fir, was brought from the Ultimo Valley in Italy. The Nativity scene, also unveiled during the ceremony, was a gift from the Diocese of Nocera Inferiore-Sarno.
