Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed on Friday to continue joint consultations and coordination to address challenges in a way that preserves international stability and peace.

The agreement came during their meeting in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the International Forum for Peace and Trust.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Presidency, the meeting reviewed prospects for bilateral cooperation and the necessary steps to strengthen mutual understanding on issues of shared interest.

President Rashid emphasized the importance of resuming political dialogue sessions to follow up on the implementation of bilateral agreements and memoranda signed between the two countries.

The meeting also addressed recent regional and international developments amid the rapidly evolving situation in the region and the growing challenges related to security and stability. Both leaders agreed to maintain ongoing consultation and coordination to confront these challenges and safeguard global peace and stability.
