The Iraqi Embassy in Turkey announced on Wednesday the official launch of an electronic visa system for Turkish citizens, stating that it will initially apply to investors and businesspeople.
During a ceremony organized by the embassy to introduce the new system, Iraq’s Ambassador to Ankara, Majid Abdul Redha Hassan Al-Lajmawi, confirmed that the e-visa system with Turkey has officially begun, according to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
He explained that the system is the result of joint cooperation between Iraq’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior.
For his part, Nashat Al-Khafaji, Director General of Civil Status and Passports in Iraq, stated that the country has entered a “phase of radical transformation,” noting that the e-visa procedures began this week in Ankara and will start next week in Istanbul.
Abbas Al-Bahadli, a representative from Iraq’s Ministry of Interior, clarified that the new visa system will initially target investors and businesspeople, with visa application results potentially issued within 24 hours.
He added that this type of visa will include special benefits, such as the possibility of extension.
The aim of the system, he emphasized, is to facilitate investment opportunities and business activities in Iraq for Turkish investors and entrepreneurs.
