Al-Sharaa Describes the Relationship of Syria with Iraq in One Word.

On Monday, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa offered characterizations of his country’s relationships with several nations, including Iraq, ranging from ideal to good to acceptable.

Al-Sharaa stated that Syria has managed to strike a balance in its regional and international relations, describing ties with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE as ideal.

He noted that relations with Egypt and Iraq are acceptable, expressing hope they would see significant improvement. He also said Syria maintains good relations with the United States, Russia, and China.

Earlier, Al-Sharaa emphasized the importance of uniting Syrian efforts to build a “strong Syria” and achieve a future “worthy of the sacrifices of its people.”

After performing the dawn prayer at the Umayyad Mosque, he declared, “We will restore a strong Syria with a reconstruction worthy of its present and past… a reconstruction worthy of Syria’s ancient civilization,” according to statements shared by the presidential platforms.

Al-Sharaa, who appeared in a green military uniform—the same one he wore upon arriving in Damascus a year ago—stressed that “preserving this victory and building upon it is now the greatest duty upon all Syrians.”

Over the past year, Al-Sharaa has succeeded in breaking Syria’s international isolation and lifting suffocating economic sanctions.
