Lebanon Files Complaint Against Israel Over Border Wall Construction.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations Security Council against Israel for constructing two concrete walls inside Lebanese territory near the town of Yaroun in southern Lebanon.

The ministry stated that this violation “adds to Israel’s numerous and ongoing breaches” and involves the building of two T-shaped concrete separation walls in the southwest and southeast of Yaroun, within internationally recognized Lebanese borders. The construction of these walls, documented by UNIFIL forces, results in the annexation of additional Lebanese land and constitutes a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) and the 2024 Declaration of Cessation of Hostilities.

In its statement, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry called on the Security Council to take urgent action to deter Israel from further violations of Lebanese sovereignty, to compel it to dismantle the two walls, and to ensure its immediate withdrawal south of the Blue Line from all areas it continues to occupy within Lebanon, including five specific border sites.

The Lebanese government reiterated in the complaint its “readiness to engage in negotiations with Israel to end the occupation and halt aggressions,” reaffirming its commitment to fully implement Resolution 1701 without selectivity and to uphold the cessation of hostilities. The statement emphasized Lebanon’s aim to restore its sovereign decision-making over matters of war and peace, to ensure that all arms are under state control, and to assert full sovereignty over its territory through its own national forces.
