Iran Seeks to Tip the Scales in Israeli Elections.

The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Israeli security agencies are treating the possibility of Iranian interference in the upcoming elections as almost certain. The report suggests that Tehran is planning to exploit internal tensions to undermine political stability.

According to security expert Dani Citrinowicz, who authored the report, “Iran operates an extensive network of fake accounts on social media platforms aimed at spreading disinformation and fueling divisions between Jewish and Arab voters.”

The newspaper outlines a three-phase strategy allegedly planned by Iran:

1. Pre-election influence by disrupting internal consensus.

2. Election day disruption through fake news and cyber activities.

3. Post-election discrediting by casting doubt on the results to undermine the legitimacy of the democratic process.

Israel Hayom also notes that Tehran is expected to draw on experience gained from its alleged interference in the 2020 U.S. elections and to use artificial intelligence tools to enhance the credibility of fake accounts.

The report adds that special units within Iran’s Revolutionary Guard are overseeing these operations, with some already preparing for action.

It concludes that Iran’s capacity to harm the electoral process is “real and growing,” urging Israeli authorities to strengthen intelligence efforts and digital surveillance to prevent any foreign interference.
