U.S. Optimism for Ending the Russia-Ukraine Conflict After Geneva Talks.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed optimism on Monday about the possibility of ending the conflict in Ukraine following "fruitful talks" held between American and Ukrainian officials in Geneva.

Speaking to reporters after the first session, Rubio said, "These talks were probably the most in-depth and productive so far," noting that the 28-point peace plan previously proposed by President Trump is still under development. He added that both delegations are working on drafting terms that could satisfy both parties—Ukraine and Russia.

He further stated, "The plan is a living document, evolving day by day based on feedback and proposals. The points still under discussion are not insurmountable; they just require more time than is currently available."

The U.S. State Department confirmed on Sunday that the proposal "was prepared by the United States, taking into account feedback from both the Russian and Ukrainian sides," in response to recent criticism of the plan.
