U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he is considering approving a deal to supply Saudi Arabia with F-35 stealth fighter jets manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “They want to buy a lot of fighter jets. I’m looking into it. They’ve asked me to consider it—they want to buy even more fighter aircraft.”
When asked about the nature of the discussions, Trump replied, “It’s more than just a meeting—we’re honoring Saudi Arabia.”
He also expressed hope that the Kingdom would soon join the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries. However, he noted that Riyadh remains hesitant without a roadmap leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The potential deal comes ahead of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to the White House next week, during which economic and defense agreements between the two countries are expected to be signed.
