On Tuesday, the assistant spokesperson for the Electoral Commission, Nebras Abu Souda, confirmed that all polling stations will close at 6 p.m. sharp, with no extension.

Abu Souda stated, “All general polling stations opened at exactly 7 a.m., are operating very well, and are receiving voters.”

She added, “Ballot boxes will be closed at 6 p.m. with no extension to voting hours. The electronic devices are pre-programmed to shut down at the designated time.”

She explained that “there are more than 8,700 electoral centers and over 39,000 polling stations, which is a large number.” She noted that “some stations experienced delays due to staff handling issues, but Commission teams immediately intervened to resolve them. These were isolated incidents and there were no technical malfunctions.”

She also clarified that “the midday report was issued electronically, and the Commission is working to consolidate it. It will be officially announced to the public.”
