South Korean Unification Minister Chung Dong-young revealed on Friday the possibility of a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un next week.
Chung stated that North Korea is showing interest in the United States, citing multiple signs that strongly suggest a potential meeting.
He predicted that the meeting could take place on the sidelines of President Trump’s scheduled visit to South Korea next Wednesday, where he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
Meanwhile, U.S. media reported that officials from Trump’s administration have privately discussed arranging a meeting between him and Kim. Their last encounter was during Trump’s first term in 2019.
Trump has expressed his desire to meet Kim again, indicating that such a meeting could happen later this year.
