The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s approval of two draft laws aimed at imposing sovereignty over the occupied West Bank and illegal settlements, describing the move as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions and a direct infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed that these expansionist measures undermine prospects for stability and entrench the reality of occupation and settlement, posing a threat to security and stability across the entire region.
The ministry reiterated Iraq’s firm and supportive stance on the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
It also called on the international community to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities, to stand firmly against the aggressive and expansionist policies pursued by the occupying authorities, and to clearly condemn the ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
