U.S. President Donald Trump stated that World War III will not begin in the Middle East, noting that he has heard such speculation for a long time.
Speaking at the Sharm El-Sheikh summit focused on the Gaza Strip on Monday, Trump said, “For years I’ve heard that these are the biggest deals that could never have happened before I ran for president and that the Middle East is the most complex and significant issue and the place that could trigger massive problems like World War III.”
He continued: “There was talk that World War III would start in the Middle East. That will not happen. We don’t want it to start anywhere, really—and it won’t happen.”
